Al Massoni
Al Massoni joined FBA in January 2002, bringing to the firm 30 years of experience in government relations, management consulting, and international development work. As a lobbyist and government relations consultant he specializes in policy analysis, program development, organizational reform, and strategic and business planning focused on creating sustainable implementation programs meeting the objectives of diverse groups and organizations. Mr. Massoni has held important executive positions with private corporations and professional associations having served as Executive Vice President of an international management consulting firm and as Executive Director of the American Institute of Planners. Mr. Massoni also served as Government Relations Director for the 13 Western States of the National Association of Counties and he established the federal government relations program for the American Institute of Planners.
Mr. Massoni’s work for U.S. governments has included government relations for the City of Houston, Texas, Knoxville/Knox County Metro, the City of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, the States of Montana, Nebraska, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota as an Economic Development Region, the Boston Office of Technology Assistance, and San Mateo County, California. He successfully developed major contracts with the following U. S. departments or agencies: Housing and Urban Development, Commerce, Environment Protection Agency, National Endowment for the Arts, and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. He served as co-director of the White House Conference on Balanced Growth and Economic Development during President Carter’s Administration.
Mr. Massoni’s non-profit organization consulting has included assistance to the International Center for Non-for-Profit Law, Grass Roots Organization for the Wellness of Seniors, the American Society of Consulting Planners, the Landscape Architects Foundation, and Partners for Livable Places.
Mr. Massoni’s corporate experience has included management and program consulting for private corporations including HNC Software, a leader in the development of predictive software, Andes Pharmaceuticals, a natural products biotechnology company, Vietnam Assistance for the Handicapped, and Design Environment Collaborative, an historic properties development firm.
In prior international consulting, Mr. Massoni was responsible for the development and management of over $22 million in project grants with the US Agency for International Development, the World Bank and the United Nations Development Program. Projects focused on local government reforms and environmental and economic development policy initiatives in Jamaica, Morocco, Poland, India, Thailand, the People’s Republic of China and the West Bank and Gaza.
Mr. Massoni has lectured on policy analysis and government relations at numerous colleges and universities. He was a Fellow at Harvard University where he conducted a graduate course in Planning Policy Analysis.
